The Body Dropped Bay is owned by T2D Workshop head honcho Matt Balls. It was found in a back garden in Suffolk and was dragged home in stock form with moss growing on the roof!! It was originally built up on just a T2D linkpin beam with dropped spindles and adjustable spring plates on the rear, but then just 48 hours before Bug Jam 2008 Matt got the urge to do 4" body drop in time to take the Bus to the show that Sunday.
A body drop is when the body is cut away from the chassis and then lowered down a number of inches and then welded back to the chassis. The result is a very low vehicle, but with good ride quality and good ground clearance under the engine, beam and chassis.
The bus was lowered back to the ground in the early hours of the sunday and taken to the show where it got an overwhelming response. Future plans include bigger wheels and a narrower beam.

Phils Ibiza Bound Bus came to T2D straight from a UK bus importer who had fitted a Ball Joint beam, bay window discs and type 25 wheels!! We soon put things right with a link pin beam, dropped spindles, a full type 1 based IRS system and a new 1600 motor. The bus also runs LRP and petrol fuel systems.
In 2008 Phil and Liz drove the van south and didn's stop til they reached Ibiza, we think that's one hell of a shake down run. Future plans include some new rear wheel arches and the a full samba conversion (maybe) to match the Samba sunroof and skylights.

The Linde Bus was purchase by T2D in 2005. When we bought it was in a really bad state of repair with no inner sills and serious rust problems on the underside, which the previous owner had chosen to overlook.
Our first step was to do the structural rust repairs and make the vehicle mechanically sound in order to get the bus through the strict UK MOT. Once MOTed we fitted a 4inch Narrowed Beam, Some Porsche Brakes, and Carried out our First steering box lift. We also redid the rear IRS Conversion with some Adj Spring Plates to aid getting the wheels on and of and fitted one piece handbrake cables. The chassis was notched and gusseted to get the bus upto date with a super low stance. Finally we rebuilt the motor in house, junking the heads which looked like they had been ported by a child in favour for some heads ported in the UK by someone who usually works on much more powerful machinery. The end result was further 29hp and the worlds fastest 1600 bus which gained entry into the BWA with a low 16 second 1/4 mile pass.
In one of the photos below you can see Paul taking back layers of primmer which had been put on by a previous owner, underneath we un-earthed some lost signage.

Chris and Kim's 11 window came to T2D with a mild drop only running dropped spindles and a mild one spline drop at the rear end. We got straight on the case and added 4" Narrowed Beam set up at the front, raised the steering box and carried out a Straight Axle Conversion at the rear. It drives as well as it looks and Chris and Kim love it. It's all about the stance..

Richie Caldwell's 11 Window was delivered to T2D in April 2008 as a tidy standard bus. A few weeks later we had transformed Richie's Ride into the high horsepower low slung machine that you see below. Richie was smiling all the way home to Glasgow when he picked up his bus, and has since become a good friend of the T2D team.

Carl Elliot's 15 Window Deluxe was transformed at T2D in 2008. It went home looking slightly different to when it arrived and earned itself a front cover feature in Volksworld Camper and Bus Magazine, after James Peene (staff writer) spotted the build up on our Blog. The bus now features all of the usual T2D tricks including a 4 inch narrowed front end, dropped spindles and a SA conversion and some Chrome Fuch wheels.
